Wave-Rotortrade Partnership
Monaco Solar & Energy Boat Challenge
Organised since 2014 by the Yacht Club de Monaco, in collaboration with the International Powerboating Federation (UIM) and Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the Solar & Energy Boat Challenge is a truly unique event.
More than a century after the first international powerboat meetings were launched in 1904, the YCM is reviving a tradition by leaving the field wide open to innovation and the imaginations of young engineers, working hand in hand with experienced manufacturers. Their goal is to develop alternative propulsion systems, using only clean energy sources to power the yachting of tomorrow. Each participant team gets the same catamaran hull and must design and build a cockpit that integrates a pilot, an energy source and a maximum 5kW engine. The energy source must be renewable (no fossil). The goal is to promote durable energy in the maritime industry.
Founded in December 2018, WAVE is dedicated to providing its members with activities that allow them to discover and thrive in the marine world. WAVE is also an association of passionate engineering students attached to ESTACA. Thus, it will be students who will carry these projects, starting from the communication until the nautical construction while passing by the accounting and the design of its boats. WAVE offers its members the opportunity to take part in the Nobiliana Project and the Solar & Energy Boat Challenge of Monaco.
Rotortrade is participating in this project to support the training of the next generation of engineers that may revolutionize the transportation of tomorrow.
